In one of the largest surveys into the attitudes of UK lawyers working for US firms ever undertaken,, surveyed 1000 lawyers currently practicing at 43 of the top US law firms, to gather their views on the key issues amongst Associate lawyers.

Few of those advising Associates on the relative merits of UK or US firms are without bias or agenda.  This report aims to give a neutral perspective on life inside US firms, by asking those who work for them to give their views anonymously.
The results challenge several preconceptions about life at US practices, highlighting the challenge facing UK law firms as they seek to retain their best Associate talent.
Tom Balmer, Third Way Legal, Head of Platform, commented, “many of the traditional stereotypes of life at a US law firm were contradicted by the views of the lawyers actually working for them, specifically around quality of work and working hours.  There are also some positives for the UK firms, around career prospects and the quality of infrastructure they provide their lawyers."
